An AR-9 80% lower is a 9mm AR lower receiver, machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, with a magazine well made for Glock-pattern 9mm magazines. It isn’t a conversion block sitting in a 5.56 mag well: the well is built for 9mm, so magazines seat and feed without an adapter. It takes a standard AR-15 lower parts kit, a mil-spec buffer tube and stock or brace, and AR-9 uppers made for Glock-magazine lowers.

A standard AR-15 lower parts kit, Glock-pattern 9mm magazines, AR-9 uppers, and mil-spec buffer tubes and stocks (use a 9mm buffer). Complete the build with an AR-9 pistol kit.
What magazines does it take? Glock-pattern 9mm magazines (G17, G19 and extended mags). It does not take Colt-style 9mm stick mags.
Is the ejector installed? No. The ejector ships with the lower but isn’t installed. Spare AR9 ejector and magazine-release kits are also available.
Do I need a special lower parts kit? No. A standard AR-15 LPK fits; the 9mm ejector comes with the lower.
Can I build a pistol or a rifle? Either one. A barrel under 16″ with a stock makes it a short-barreled rifle under the NFA; see AR-15 Pistol vs SBR.
Why billet and not forged? The 9mm magwell’s shape is machined from billet, so AR-9 lowers are billet-only.
Can you ship to my state? Laws vary and some states restrict 80% lowers. Check your local laws and our Shipping & Returns page.
