Assembling Your AR-9 Lower
Once your lower is fabricated, it’s time to assemble it. You’ll need a lower parts kit, available here, and a buffer tube kit. Please note, the AR9 lower uses an AR-15 lower parts kit. Follow our step-by-step picture guide for installing your lower parts kit and buffer assembly.
ONLY compatible with standard 9mm GLOCK® OEM magazines.
- LRBHO (Last Round Bolt Hold Open) – Since our AR-9 lowers do not house an internal linkage for the bolt catch, you’ll need an upper receiver with integrated LRBHO to keep the bolt back on an empty magazine. Double-check your upper’s specs to ensure full functionality.

Didn’t notice any blemish. Milled it out with a 5d jig. The mag release cavity went into the fire control pocket after I milled it, but it doesn’t affect function with a 4.5 upper, Tromix buffer and Hoffman super safety.

The lower machined out very well but there were problems with the Mag Release pin. The hex socket in the pin was not formed correctly and the allen key did not engage properly. In addition, the threaded allen head on the mag pin stuck out above the lower body by 0.015” and was not fully engaged. Finally, the 5/32 hole for the safety detent pin was not properly formed and had to be chased out for the pin to fit.I have worked on your lowers previously and had absolutely no issues. I wish this one had gone as smoothly.
